Wu Zunyou, an expert from China CDC: China has achieved three firsts in epidemic prevention and control.

CCTV News:On May 19th, the State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism held a press conference on international cooperation and exchange of epidemic prevention and control in COVID-19.

At the press conference, Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist of China CDC, introduced that after the COVID-19, China shared information about the epidemic with the World Health Organization and other countries on the principle of "early, quick and transparent".

Wu Zunyou said that "early, fast and transparent" can be summarized by three "firsts". The first "first", on January 3, when it was not clear what the pathogen caused the epidemic, China notified the World Health Organization and other countries. Second, China immediately notified the World Health Organization and relevant countries when it separated novel coronavirus as the "culprit" of this unexplained pneumonia on January 7th. The third "first", when China made clear the gene sequence of the virus, he uploaded, notified and shared it to the World Health Organization as soon as possible, and uploaded the whole gene sequence to the World Health Organization’s global shared data platform. These three firsts show that China shared information with the World Health Organization and other countries on the principle of "early, quick and transparent" at the early stage of the epidemic. Only by sharing information in a timely, open and transparent manner can the whole world cooperate and win the war in COVID-19.
