Jiangsu standardizes the construction of roadside facilities in coordination with vehicles and roads in national highways.
Recently, Jiangsu issued the first technical guide for the construction and application of smart road-side facilities for ordinary roads (referred to as the "Guide"), aiming at guiding and standardizing the collaborative construction and efficient application of smart road-side facilities for ordinary national and provincial highways, and providing technical support for promoting the high-quality development of highway traffic.
This is an important achievement of the joint construction of party branches at the provincial, municipal and district levels in Jiangsu transportation system. Since 2021, the Party branch of Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation has been paired with the first Party branch of Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Transportation and the third Party branch of Xiangcheng District Bureau of Transportation to jointly focus on the key work such as the construction of Xiangcheng Digital Transportation Demonstration Zone, and deeply integrate the party building with the business, forming a good situation of "Party building leading, demonstration first, automatic driving and vehicle-road collaborative industry digitalization accelerating development".
On the basis of summing up the experience of vehicle-road collaborative construction on smart roads, integrating advanced technologies and referring to existing standards, the Guide puts forward the specification requirements such as outfield facilities layer, support platform layer, application service layer and support guarantee layer, and integrates the classification standards and evaluation index system of vehicle-road collaborative construction on smart roads, scientifically formulates the indicators of vehicle-road collaborative construction, and solves the problems of systematic shortage in project implementation.
The Guide is verified by the projects of Suzhou Xiangcheng Intelligent Networked Road Phase III, National Highway 524, Provincial Highway 126, etc. Through the intelligent construction of roadside facilities, L2-class vehicles can achieve L4-class automatic driving ability with the help of road section awareness equipment.
